"Ocean's 8", which also stars Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, and Sarah Paulson, arrives in theaters June 8. I don't know, and what's more, I don't care. We're talking velvet suits here, people. To wit, Sandra Bullock's Debbie Ocean has just gotten out of jail herself, after being locked up for almost six years, and decides to get back in the crime game by robbing the annual Met Gala ball.
Here's the setup: the team is going to lift some very expensive diamonds from the star-studded Met Gala, in a heist that will earn each of them $16.5 million apiece. This is basically the plot of every Ocean's movie - a crew comes together to pull off a big job, so don't expect anything too earth-shattering here.
Even if Danny is dead, Clooney is still part of this all-female remake: He's an executive producer on the film, alongside producer Steven Soderbergh, who directed the original trilogy. Pictures delivers another new look at the upcoming crime-thriller, Ocean's 8. Any film that pairs Cate Blanchett with Rihanna instantly has my money. Oh, and James Corden makes an appearance and, needless to say, generates a few laughs in the process. So maybe just cool it before you start foaming at the mouth.
In the trailer, Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) is fresh out of prison when she recruits a team of thieves to rob the Met during the famed Met Gala in New York City. Amita (Mindy Kaling) makes a ideal replica of the necklace, Nine Ball (Rihanna) cracks one of the most sophisticated security systems in the world to get these women inside of the venue, Lou (Cate Blanchett) plans their escape.
