Police in Kentucky say an attack by two dogs has left a woman dead and her husband injured.
If you see a pit bull matching that description, in the Arjay or surrounding area, call Bell County dispatch immediately at 606-337-6174 or 911. The deputies who rushed to the scene discovered that the couple "had been savagely attacked" by the dogs, Fox News reported.
Lorraine Saylor and her husband Johnny were attacked by two dogs.
Johnny was able to get away and grab his gun and shot at the dogs, killing one. As he checked on her, the second pit bull stood a short distance away from him.
Johnny Saylor suffered injuries to his head and arm while fending the animals off. It is not known who, if anyone, was watching over the dogs when they attacked the Saylors. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, officials said.
Lorraine will be autopsied at 9 a.m. on Monday. He then ran outside and that's when the dogs started attacking him.
"Sheriff Mitch Williams is asking the community to be on the lookout for a brown pit bull that is injured", according to the statement.
"She was out taking care of animals, and a very unfortunate set of circumstances happened and she lost her life", Bell County Coroner Jay Steele said. The Bell County Sherriff's Department responded to a dispatch call and found the injured couple.
Bell County Sheriff's Deputies say that the dogs belonged to Johnny Dale Lankford, 42.
Two pit bulls mauled one of their neighbors to death on Christmas Eve. A seven-year-old boy was attacked killed by a pair of pit bulls on November 21, 2017, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Following the attack, MA councilor Rodney Elliot proposed a citywide ban on pit bulls. The other dog has not been found yet.
James Saylor said he is still just trying to understand the attack.
