Today marks the beginning of a new era of personal computing and ASUS is proud to be paving the way with Qualcomm Technologies and other companies to develop this new landscape for "Always Connected" Windows on Snapdragon PCs. Now though, you'll be able to get an Always Connected PC with an AMD processor and Qualcomm modem. As with the outgoing Snapdragon 835, Samsung is the fabrication partner, and the 845 will be built on the company's 10nm process.
There's no word yet on the pricing or availability for the Asus NovaGo, but HP said that the Envy x2 would be arriving in the United Kingdom in February, starting at £999 with a keyboard and active pen included.
"The NovaGo features a 13.3" 1920 x 1080 10-point multitouch display that sports a 178-degree viewing angle, 100% sRGB color gamut, and an ultra-thin 8.9mm bezel.
The big unknowns at this point, other than whether or not HP's battery life claims hold up to our own lab tests, is how the Snapdragon chip will stack up performance- and price-wise compared with competing Intel-powered PCs.
Frost didn't provide as many hardware specs as Asus' CEO did, but the he did have some details about the Envy x2's form factor. "ASUS NovaGo reinvents the concept of laptop connectivity and productivity - it's the world's first announced laptop that is connected virtually anywhere, at any time, with the new Gigabit LTE network*; and lasts up to 22 hours on a single charge for "all-day" battery life". With 4GB / 8GB RAM options, users can choose between 64GB or 256GB onboard storage. Both models will launch with Windows 10 S, but can be upgraded to the full Windows 10 experience.
The HP Envy x2 will be available from Spring 2018 with no word yet as to pricing, but it looks like a promising device. That translates to battery life up to 20 hours and up to 700 hours (over 29 days) in standby.
If you want a bit more grunt and storage space, you can bump up the budget to $799 USA for the 8GB model of Asus NovaGo, complete with 256GB of storage.
All the promises that are made by the two tech giants are an indication of great future for innovation in the tech industry.
