Asad Shafiq fought hard during his 112-run knock - his 11th Test century - and together with his skipper Sarfraz Ahmed (68) added 173 for the sixth wicket, but once their partnership was broken Sri Lanka, having already won the first Test by 21 runs in Abu Dhabi, quickly closed in on the victory. Asad is standing with 86 runs and Sarfraz has scored 57 runs till the end of the 4th day.
The hosts will be hoping to level the two-match Test series with a win over Sri Lanka, with two days to play.
Then, as he was preparing for the biggest home series this year, against India, Chandimal contracted pneumonia, and was out for the first Test. Yasir Shah, who completed his record five-wicket haul in last innings in his fifth consecutive Tests, also took one wicket along with Muhammad Abbas.
