A police statement said firing from Pakistan had killed a 10-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl.
Ten of the injured belong to Dighwar sector while other two hail from Kerni sector. "Heavy shelling began along the Line of Control in Kerni and Digwar sectors around 6:30 am".
There has been a sharp increase in the number of ceasefire violations this year.
The Chief Minister has directed the district administration to ensure specialized treatment to the people injured in the shelling.
The critically injured civilians were airlifted to Jammu's Government Medical College Hospital whereas the others are being treated at Poonch's district hospital.
Reacting to these ceasefire violations, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy CM Nirmal Singh has said, "Pakistan is a country of cowards".
Strong concern was also expressed over the continued unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces across the Line of Control and the International Boundary in violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding. "The "Peace Bus" today remained suspended for the third month", an official said here. Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shells and firing small and automatic weapons in the forward posts of Poonch. On September 30, a tunnel dug by Pakistan was found by the BSF along worldwide border in Arnia sector.
While, one BSF personnel also succumbed to his injuries post encounter. On the other hand, India has chose to bring Pakistan down to its knees without firing a single bullet through blocking its water.
