But while there's quite a lot being added, the eagerly anticipated Timeline feature is not going to make it in time for this particular update. As promised last week by Microsoft, forthcoming preview builds of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will mostly contain bug fixes and general improvements, not new features.

That's the difficulty with nailing down anything about Windows Mixed Reality at the moment - it covers the whole gamut of virtual reality headsets and augmented reality devices like the Hololens. Headsets from Acer, Dell, Lenovo, and HP will start shipping on the same day (and will be joined by Asus' headset next year), with prices starting at $299. Microsoft will also be tossing in a universal clipboard, one that allows you to copy paste things back and forth between phones and PCs. The update will also include the new Windows Fluent Design System, which will work to enhance the feel and look of apps and the operating system in general. In April, the company promised to come up with twice-yearly Windows 10 updates in March and September.
Unlike the current crop of headsets, the new Mixed Reality VR headsets will boast an impressive 1440p resolution per eye, up from the 1080p standards of the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, and far exceeding the 960p standards of the PSVR.
