While others have hedged their bets as to which intelligent AI will come out ahead by supporting both of them, Panasonic has come out firmly in favor of team Google.
Google announced the new devices Wednesday at IFA, a consumer electronics show in Germany. It's just as powerful as Google Home and any other Google Assistant-powered device, but it's small and portable and costs less than $100.
Another device in the list is TicHome Mini from Mobvoi, which is as powerful as Google Home.
"From the start, we've believed that your Google Assistant should be available wherever you need help, and that's why it's already on Google Home, eligible Android phones, iPhones, Google Allo, and Android Wear", Google senior director Abhi Taneja writes. Anker will bring it out in late October.
Keep an eye on this post over the coming days, as we'll be updating it throughout the week with new products in the Google Assistant family. But all these speakers feature built-in far-field microphones so that they can detect voices from across the room and be activated as soon as they hear the "OK Google" wake phrase. "Ok Google, are my clothes clean?" or "is the laundry done?" Google is also working on partnering with a bunch of home automation systems for Google Assistant; these include Honeywell, Netatmo and TP-Link. Google has noted that several manufacturers including LG are working on integrating Assistant in appliances, including washers, dryers, vacuums and more.
Whether or not Google does win out in the war with Amazon, if you're already invested in the Alexa ecosystem, then the GA10 might not be for you. Of course, it does support Google Cast as you'd expect, so you can talk to the Zolo Mojo and tell it to cast 13 Reasons Why from Netflix onto your TV.
