Qatar earlier on Monday dismissed the accusations against it as a "publicity stunt" aimed exclusively at sulllying its image and reputation.
"We do not want any differences between our brothers in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries, and it is not enough to say that there is a problem without trying to resolve it", Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told the Qatari news agency QNA on arrival.
Mr. Eckstein acknowledged the United States' alliance with Qatar but said President Trump's recent visit to Saudi Arabia and Israel, in which he promised to help combat terrorist groups, gave him hope that the president would take action against Qatar.
"The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion categorically denies that Saudi Arabia has severed ties with Malta; in fact, these ties remain as strong as ever".

He called measures imposed against Qatar by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and others "an act of aggression".

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt have sought the support of the former Afghan President Hamid Karzai in the stance the coalition of the Arab countries against Qatar.
Abdullah said in a statement the pair "were detained from our hotel by Saudi police in Mecca after a live analysis" on the crisis with Qatar.
Moreover, Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are also highly disturbed about Qatar's warm ties with Shiite-dominated Iran, which they see as a major security threat. "The blockade has been ongoing for two weeks and the blockading nations have offered no formula for resolving the crisis", Sheikh Saif Bin Ahmed al-Thani, Director of Qatar's Government Communications Office, said in a statement.
Last week, Qatar's navy carried out three days of joint training exercises with the U.S. navy.
