Top Rank promoter Bob Arum saw him take down South African veteran Ali Funeka on the undercard of heavyweight Joseph Parker's WBO world title fight in New Zealand last December and decided Horn was worthy of a shot at the great Pacquiao.
Horn said he will be running the 10-point plan in his head when he steps into the ring with Pacquiao. "It just happens that when some of our friends came around to our training camp, we weren't doing much and people assumed I wasn't training hard".
Pacquiao, who briefly retired previous year before making a successful comeback against Vargas in November, said after arriving in Australia at the weekend he was confident of taking out Horn before an expected crowd of 50,000.
Arum admitted Monday being clueless on the physical conditioning of the 38-year-old Pacquiao for his showdown against Horn and therefore isn't sure what the future holds for the fighting senator.
I have not seen one person from the boxing world yet that even gives McGregor a chance to win a round.
In boxing terms Jo Horn has always been in Jeff's corner.
"Reading over it is just like listening to him talk to me in the ring".
"I have watched two Jeff Horn fight videos and he's OK, I'm a boxer that never underestimates my opponents".
Jo said her job was simple as fight time approached to just keep Jeff's mind on anything but Manny Pacquiao. "But I guess, where I've fought before has been a small location, so the crowd seems louder than it is". "I've never been in a situation like that before". He's undefeated, he's young.
"The right hand", Horn said when asked about the keys to victory against the massive Filipino favorite. "He has good amateur experience", Pacquiao said, as quoted by Courier Mail.
Pacquiao said he and his team had been happy with his performance.
"I think this is one of the biggest crowds that I'm going to fight to". I would lie awake at night and dream of winning a big fight. "As long as we do that we'll get through the week without a problem and we'll bring our best on Sunday", said Horn's trainer.
"After the fight when I win I will be saying thanks for believing in me champ".
"It's not every day you see an Aussie fighting for a world title, especially against someone who is an eight-division world champion".
