A company spokesman told ABC27 News the store at 1094 Haines Road will begin its liquidation sale on June 29 and close to the public in mid-September.
The Sears at the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor is closing, a spokesman for the company confirmed.
The only Chicago-area store among the 20 closing is on North Harlem Avenue in Galewood, Riefs said.
Sears Canada Inc. said Thursday it plans to close 59 locations across Canada and cut approximately 2,900 jobs under a court-supervised restructuring. Sears closed 240 stores a year ago and 53 in 2015.
According to Business Insider, these closing will bring Sears locations down to 1,180.
"However, to achieve that goal and to right-size its business, the Sears Canada Group anticipates that a number of stores will have to be closed, operating costs reduced, business lines exited, and head count reductions implemented", Sears Canada said in documents filed with the court. Sears Holdings owns about 12% of Sears Canada, while Sears CEO Eddie Lampert owns about 45% of its shares both personally and through his hedge fund.
In April, Seritage, a developer that controls about 250 Sears Holdings properties across the US, said it was seeking new tenants to take over some of the space at five Sears and Kmart stores in Maryland.
In 2015, Sears Holdings Corp. sold 235 Sears and Kmart store locations to Seritage as part of an agreement in which Sears leases the stores back from the real estate company.
