With the Cowboys off to a 3-1 start, it's completely possible that Snoop was the third-most popular person in at the bar that night. Would the 'Boys decide to rough it out with Romo or give the keys to the auto back to Prescott? Blaine Gabbert made big throws, the running game was productive and the team converted third downs easily. "And then you're sitting there with Dak Prescott, who has distinguished himself, you've got a good feeling about where you are at the position, the depth, and then you got a great feeling about the future".
"I'll say it every time you ask me". Dallas' emphasis on running the football came into play after that effort, as the Cowboys scored near the end of the third quarter to make it 21-17. "I've got to throw it to the middle of the field".
Backup receiver Brice Butler caught one TD pass and Terrance Williams caught another as the Cowboys are thriving without some of their best players. When Dez Bryant suffered an ugly-looking knee injury in Week 3, those thoughts were probably brought up again.
"That's kinda when I feel comfortable the most", said Prescott, "when we're going fast, running the ball, putting pressure on the defense".
"Me and Dak actually did some extra time after practice working on that play", Butler said.
That's all unknown but one thing's more certain: if Romo comes back and gets re-injured there's a possibility it'd be his last season with the star on his helmet. The Cowboys' only loss, a season-opening defeat at the hands of the New York Giants, came by just one point. Conversely, the NFL's No. 2 rushing offense, keyed by league-leading rusher Ezekiel Elliot and the Dallas offensive line, faces off against a Bengals defense that's only marginally better than the Cowboys. Gabbert finished 16 for 23 for 196 yards with one touchdown and one interception. I really didn't expect to do it without Dez, without our left tackle. Coach Garrett does an outstanding job putting us in those situations and we're always coming through executing in practice.
Gabbert and the 49ers offense began the game with 14 unanswered points and a string of seven straight third-down conversions. Blaine Gabbert got the team off to a hot start, completing 8-11 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown to WR Jeremy Kerley.
But I haven't come to bury the 49ers. Their linemen were still trying to block me, so I don't know. "We will see what happens and the next guy has to step in and that is what we have to do".
If there was any doubt about the reason the Cowboys took Elliott with the 4th pick in the 2016 Draft, those should be put to rest now.
The Cowboys could certainly use him in the lineup, despite the fact that he hasn't been racking up big stats this year.
