Saturday's derby will mark the first time Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho clash as City and United bosses, respectively.
However, when asked about who he would support during the Manchester derby, Xavi shocked Cadena Ser by saying he won't support Pep when Guardiola's City face off against Mourinho's United. To the outsiders like us, the changes in the style of play are already noticeable, and those changes are even more visible to the players.
Sky Sports pundit Souness says Guardiola's record is owed to the fact he had better players at his disposal at Barcelona, and believes Mourinho has the edge on Saturday because of his experience of the physicality of British derbies. We spoke fluently with Ronald Koeman and Tony Pulis.
During their two years as managerial rivals in Spain, both managers won La Liga once, though Guardiola was victorious in the 2011 Champions League, beating Mourinho's Real Madrid in the semi-final. But Guardiola said: "I have a lot of respect for Zlatan and what he has done in the football world and his career".
"Since the new owners have arrived, Manchester City have been a very good team".
He started 15 games at right-back under Louis van Gaal in the EPL last season, and only eight players featured for more league minutes.
"Nobody has doubts. If he is ready, he will play".
Mourinho said: "It changes [for us] because it is more hard".
New signings Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan could make their debuts after recovering from injury, and Claudio Bravo could replace Willy Caballero in goal after his transfer from Barcelona.
"He could decide to play with [Kelechi] Iheanacho or [Raheem] Sterling".
"Aguero is one of the best strikers in the Premiership, no doubting that, and when he's not there it takes a lot away from Manchester City".
Talk surrounding that relationship is, though, compounded by chatter about this match's implications on the title race and sub-plots such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic facing his former manager, but Mourinho is ignoring such background noise.
"They are available but Antonio was able to get one flight direct to Madrid and then the connection to London or Manchester is an easy one", the United boss said.
Mourinho said he was more concerned with City's players than Guardiola.
